Games Workshop Brings Web Catalogue In-store
It’s a well-hidden fact that I’m a huge Games Workshop (GW) nerd. After being distracted from the hobby for the better part of the last decade, I was pleased to see that my favorite hobby store was (slowly) embracing digital technologies in their retail locations. As large part of the hobby revolves around ‘conversion’ of Continue reading
Can a DVD Rental Machine Make You Your Fortune?
OK, I know it sounds great, but is it really? Can you really just get your hands on one or more of these machines and place them somewhere red hot? Maybe… They call them Kiosks. I actually use one of these “red boxes” as my family calls them quite frequently. There is one parked out in front of the Shop Rite, just down the road from our house. It is always packed to, either with people returning their DVDs, or those taking their sweet time trying to decide what to get. The movies are just $1.00 to rent, plus tax. Now I live in a very up and coming, super popular country area, with apple orchards, and one of the last surviving drive in movie theaters. We have just one super market for the whole town. I want you to see that this whole business to me seems to rely on location. There is just one of the DVD Now type Kiosks at the store. Can you make money with this type of a business? Maybe, maybe not. You would have to register for one of the free webinars to get more details. I am sure there is quite a cost involved, as these machines are pretty high tech if you ask me. Nothing good comes easy right? If you happen to have an in with the local store front, that would definitely allow you to place a machine like this, then it could be a good idea. What about power requirements? I used to sell high end copiers, and I know they almost always sat unused until the customer was able to get an electrician in to install a dedicated high end outlet to power the machine. I would say this is probably no different. I like using the DVD Kiosk rental machine, and you certainly can not beat the one dollar price tag. Is it profitable though? It seems there would also be quite a lot of red tape to get the clearances needed to get all the new releases and stuff like that. They don’t let just anyone sell their titles you know. In closing, I love the service and convenience. I think in the right location, it could be profitable, maybe. Would not be for me. Best of luck to you though if you do plan on researching this DVD Now Kiosk movie rental business. HomeBasedBizReviews works full time at testing and trying home based business opportunities. Retailers Can Create Endless Aisles And Increase Sales
At this point in time, all progressive retailers should have presence in the real bricks and mortar world as well as in the virtual world. The majority of your shoppers will shop in your stores as well as on line, so why not offer that opportunity right in your stores? Your customers will typically shop on line when they have a free moment at home, at work or want an item that is not offered in your stores directly. Customers may plan on ordering on line when they get home but get so distracted that they never do. There may be items that you sell in your store that are large, and customers prefer to order on line so that the products are delivered right to their door. If a customer is in your store, and they’ve discussed a product with your employee at length that you may not stock at your particular location, why not direct them to an order kiosk to order on line right in the store? You can close the sale during the customer’s visit even of you do not have the item. Your warehouse will ship them the goods in a couple of days and really add value to the experience! items too large or items that customers may not want to carry around are perfect choices for on line purchases in the store. Your on-line kiosks save the risk of the customer not following through with a purchase when they get home, and reduces the risk that they will buy from a competitor. Studies show that there is a very high possibility that customers will use an in-store buying terminal because they are in a positive frame of mind and focused at that moment on your store and the discussion they’ve had with your sales employees. Also, think from the customer’s viewpoint how great an experience it is to place an order while in the store and have it arrive right to your door just a few days later! These type of purchasing experiences build great long term loyalty as you become their in-store and on-line merchant all wrapped up into one experience. Today, creating an online buying terminal in your store take a small amount of space and an accessible computer terminal that is on line to your website. You’ll want your webmaster to program it like an INTRANET terminal that is wired only to your website so that customers don’t use it to surf the web for unrelated issues or items, or worse still, shop from the competition in your very store! It’s time to integrate your on line store with your bricks and mortar one. Set up a few terminals in your store and guide customers to them when items may be in your warehouse but not in your particular store, or for items where customers can enjoy the convenience and added value of home delivery for larger items. Take Action Today: 1) Create two or more on line terminal kiosks in your store for an integrated shopping experience. 2) Train employees to take customers to the kiosks and help them make on line purchases when appropriate. 3) Consider offering an incentive for customers who shop on line in your store with a future discount coupon or similar reward. Interactive Kiosks Now Used In Store Windows For Advertising
Digital signage is taking another leap into a marketing phenomena and making a buzz in the industry at the same time. In one of Ralph Lauren’s stores in New York, they project images onto the window and customers can touch the images to buy the clothes! How does it work? Well the window is a translucent touch screen film that is applied to the rear of the window, with a projector hidden in the ceiling projects the images onto the 67” screen so customers can see it night or day. When customers touch the window they enter GUI ( G raphical U ser I nterface), with hand size buttons the size of hands for men’s, women’s and children’s clothing. People can then pay via credit card for their selected clothes and have the products delivered to their home. The CPU ( C entral P rocessing U nit) is hidden with the projector and a card swipe machine is located at the front of the window which is the only external hardware used in this digital signage system. During normal opening hours a neat, well dressed guy in Polo clothing helps guests navigate the window, he is not a greeter, he is an off duty New York police officer whose responsibility is to ensure no one takes the card reader. The “wonder window” has been featured on Good Morning America as well as the national press, Is this an advancement on the interactive digital signage kiosks we all know and see in shopping malls? Who knows, but I guess price will be an issue and I doubt if this is cheap. Success Depends on Carrying Over Your Marketing Message to the Retail Floor
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I decided to spend a day in the yard raking up the last of my fall leaves. Not wanting to lose my belt-clipped cell phone during the process, I removed it, placed it on the counter and did my best to corral the leaves that ultimately would fill 23 yard bags. After completing my chore, I went to retrieve my phone, but instead of finding it on the counter where I had left it, I found it submerged in the dog’s water dish at my feet Continue reading
Digital Signage: How to Customize Marketing Campaigns Based on Consumer Interaction
Here’s an interesting concept: Base in-store promotions on what shoppers actually want, not what some marketer thinks they want. That’s the bottom line on findings from the recent consumer intentions and intended actions survey from Worthington, OH, -based BIGresearch. Survey findings, released in May at the Promotion Marketing Association’s first annual Shopper Marketing Summit in Minneapolis, show something that –while seemingly obvious– often goes overlooked: every retailer has a unique customer base.
